Can I start my program remotely and still benefit from the exemption scholarship?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo. Students must hold a valid study permit and be studying in Qu\u00e9bec to be eligible, without exception. You should consider deferring your admission if you are not sure you will obtain your study permit in time. Otherwise, you will be required to pay the full tuition fee, including the supplemental fees for international students, to register for the next semester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>If, when I am accepted, I am asked to complete complementary studies or upgrading before my regular doctoral program begins, will I eligible for the exemption scholarship?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes, provided the preliminary, complementary, or skills upgrading courses do not exceed 6 additional credits. Moreover, these courses must be included in your student progress report. They will be counted as part of 8 semesters of full-time enrollment and count towards the maximum number of authorized credits. You must pay for any further courses or credits at the higher rate.BBAF reserves the right to withhold exemption for activities that would not be recognized on your student progress report or that would not be considered part of your normal program of study.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>As part of the immigration process, the authorities are asking me to provide a supporting document to prove that the supplemental tuition fees are covered. Where can I get such a document?<\/strong><br \/>\nTo obtain a letter that confirms your eligibility for the Universit\u00e9 Laval Supplemental Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship, you must email a request to <a href=\"mailto:exemption@bbaf.ulaval.ca\">exemption@bbaf.ulaval.ca<\/a>. The exemption will be applied after the deadline for withdrawing from courses with a refund. After the deadline, the adjusted bill will be available on monPortail in the <a href=\"https:\/\/monportail.ulaval.ca\/portail\/factures-impots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Finances \u2013 Factures et imp\u00f4ts<\/a>, (finances \u2013 invoices and taxes) section, under the D\u00e9tail du compte sommaire (summary account details) tab. However, the PDF bill you initially received will remain unchanged.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>At the start of the semester, I noticed that my supplemental tuition fees have not been deducted or have only been partially deducted from my invoice. Why is that and what should I do?<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst of all, it is normal for the exemption scholarship to not appear on your preliminary invoice at the beginning of the semester. The exemption will be applied after the deadline for course withdrawal with refund. If your invoice remains unchanged after that date, please <a href=\"mailto:exemption@bbaf.ulaval.ca\">contact us<\/a> to review your file.<br \/>\nHere are a few of the reasons that may explain why the scholarship was not applied:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Failure to file your study permit in monPortail<\/li>\n<li>Part-time studies<\/li>\n<li>Courses that do not contribute to your program<\/li>\n<li>Exemption scholarship limit exceeded<\/li>\n<li>Etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We always recommend paying the regular fees (without considering the supplemental tuition fees that should eventually be covered by the exemption scholarship) to avoid penalty fees for failure to pay on time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>When and how do I need to renew the scholarship?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Student Awards and Financial Aid Office sends students an email in April. They will explain the renewal procedure to follow for your situation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li><strong>If changes are made to my file, do I have to notify anyone?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes. It is your responsibility to contact the BBAF (<a href=\"mailto:exemption@bbaf.ulaval.ca\">exemption@bbaf.ulaval.ca<\/a>) as soon as possible regarding any change in your status (withdrawal, scholarship from your country, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>What impact will a program change have on my exemption scholarship?<\/strong><br \/>\nProgram changes are allowed, but they will affect the number of credits exempted. The credits that have already been exempted will be counted towards the total number of credits allowed, i.e., the first 8 semesters of full-time enrollment or until the total credits in the new regular program (90 or 96, depending on the doctoral program) have been completed. Universit\u00e9 Laval has decided to<strong> supplement<\/strong> this exemption scholarships program for doctoral students.As such, you may receive the exemption as part of the Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Enseignement Sup\u00e9rieur (MES) quota or, if the quota has been reached, you may receive the exemption from Universit\u00e9 Laval directly.
