The Student Awards and Financial Aid Office is part of the Direction des services aux étudiants (DSE) [student services] and has existed at Université Laval for more than 50 years. During the 2016–2017 year, the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office awarded 3,196 grants totalling $20 478 119. During this same period, $80 754 131 was awarded in the form of Québec government loans and grants to 13,257 students.
The mission of the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office is to inform students of the various forms of financial aid available and to support and assist them in seeking out aid to help them pursue their studies. To this end, the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office oversees scholarship and merit scholarship programs, in accordance with donors’ wishes and the policies of Université Laval, while collaborating with various institutional partners.
- To inform students of various financial assistance programs and all possible sources of student funding
- To help students seek out funding and educate them about creating and managing a budget
- To advise, guide, and support students in submitting and following up on their financial aid applications to Ministère de l’Éducation, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche and various granting agencies
- To administer the scholarship and merit scholarship programs in our charge in accordance with donors’ wishes and the policies of Université Lava
